Jane Brody on binge eating disorder

Jane Brody wrote a personal and very powerful column in yesterday's New York Times about her own experience with binge eating disorder. It's worth reading, whether you've had experience with BED or another eating disorder or not, for its description of the slow, inexorable descent into hell that eating disorders entail.

Defintely worth a read.

There is one absolutely phenominal book on binge eating called "Holy Hunger" by Margaret Bullitt-Jonas.

What the researchers seem to be getting at is the same thing that is true for anorexia: food as medicine. Regular, nutritious meals, a wide variety of foods, enjoying eating, are all crucial to ED recovery. Whatever your diagnosis
