Don't get mad. Get out your Exacto knife.

That's what this furious citizen did when confronted by an offensive ad for thin pretzels.

What if we all "corrected" ads like this? They can't arrest all of us. . . .

What an incredibly stupid ad. at least snack factory decided to remove the ads and apologize. Still, they should have figured it out before the ads were released.

You're a guy, so you wouldn't have grown up with the same stupid poster I grew up with, framed on everybody's walls: "You can never be too rich or too thin."

Revolting on all counts.

I love it; breaking down the hegemony with guerilla art! I would've posted a picture of someone from the concentration camps or Ethiopia in the late 80's next to one of the super skinny models and been "You can never be to thin. OH REALLY!?"

I saw this on a billboard in LA the other day and my first thought was that I couldn't possibly be seeing that slogan. Then, it was one of those "oh not they di'int!" reactions. Bravo to this guy.

Maybe we should make up a list of statements, reference information, pictures and such that people can print onto sticky labels and carry in their handbags for just that moment when you see an advert like that. I know I'm never prepared with something at the right moment, and I'm not willing to take a sharpie to a sign, but I'd gladly put stickers on it!

I love that idea!

So here's for starters:
"Oh yes you can."
"You're beautiful just the way you are."

I've been watching the AMC show "Mad Men" a period drama about a 1960's ad agency. I cringe at the ridiculous, sexist, racist, elitist ways the characters sell products and remember similar advertisements of my youth growing up in 60's and 70's. I think the attraction of the show is the contrast between then and now. But maybe we haven't come that far after all. Bravo to the young man in the film!

The ad makes me angry and the company was so insensitive with their choice of words. I love what the person did to correct the ad though. It makes me smile that he did that!
