Fillyjonk over at Shapely Prose has a great post on New Year's resolutions. Check it out.
This year, I resolve to:
Make progress toward learning to love my body the way it is, not the way I wish it were.
Finish my second anthology.
Sell the guitar I bought last year, and which I've played twice. Take voice lessons instead.
Do something surprising every day. OK, every week.
How about you?

For 2008 my goals are to stop being late (I am ALWAYS late!!) the way I am going to do this is to just focus on one thing at a time ie focusing on getting ready and not doing my washing or ironing that can wait til I get home.
And secondly I aim to appreciate myself more, getting rid of the body issues and loving me for me. The way I am going to do this is keep away from any media regarding diets and bodies...I do NOT want to go on a diet and I do not care if so and so has lost 4 stone in 5 days!!
Um, I guess I'll buy your anthology when you're done. Does that count as a resolution?
Tee HEE ... my family wants my new years resolution to be ... be late to something once a month and not freak out over it.
ROFLMHO ...um ... NO.
I don't do late.
Be HONEST with my team and accountable for my recovery -- this is a huge problem.
Tolerate having a "buffer" over my target BMI (20)
Spend time with family and friends and enjoy life :)
I'm all for not doing the washing and ironing!
dreaming, I can relate. I'm always early and get nervous if I can't help being late. My father was the same way. He once got our family to a baseball game so early the ballpark wasn't open yet!
a:), good for you! Enjoying life is what it's al about.
Resolutions: Read something challenging every day. Write something every day. Keep the house neat, but don't bug my family about keeping the house neat (it should be my obsession, not theirs; however, if they just HAPPEN to help, I won't complain!). Express my gratitude regularly.
On that note, thanks, Harriet, for being such a level-headed, funny, honest, and right-minded person!
I tend not to make resolutions but this seems like it might help me this year.
I desperately need a business plan in writing. We've been winging it for too long and as exciting as it is it would help to get disciplined...or perhaps it will show others that I really do work hard...I simply make it look easy. Plus , we bought a country store in Vt. 2 weeks ago and it's now a very real need.
Begin painting again. (art...not just walls)Can't have all work no play.
Finish up some house projects here that have been awaiting time and space, which is here now.
Appreciate the views, music, and the joys that seem to lift me away from all the problems in the world. Balance, balance, balance.
If the house is messy along the way...who cares!
Shorten my blog replies...not a chance. /*****
Happy New year Harriet and All!
Mary,
I love your resolutions! Where is your country store? I love Vermont too. I spent a summer outside of Brattleboro many years ago and fell in love with the countryside, and have several nephews and cousins around Burlington.
