This reminded me of an excellent book called, Blessing of a Skinned Knee by Wendy Mogel. We as parents need to teach our kids skills for dealing with failure, what it means, and how to learn from it! So important! Thanks for posting this video, Harriet.
To which I might add the blessings of being a writer, because you've got to deal with a whole lot of rejection and failure if you want to keep writing.
Aww I usually get depressed and run to my meds...but not anymore. I have to help myself and Im doing that. But I hate having to fail.I never want to look back on it. Its heart breaking!
Harriet, I am new to your blog (referred by the Ellyn Satter website). I'm so glad I found it! I appreciate your messages and I'm excited to read every update. Having battled an eating disorder and now constantly trying to be grateful for my body - regardless of its shape or size - I sincerely appreciate the things you are posting here. Thank you!!
I teach pottery. One thing I like to tell my students is that, if they never have failures, it is because they are only trying things they already know will work. Not taking any chances, not trying anything new. Not learning. Another way to put it is, "If you aren't failing, you aren't trying!"

I'm so glad you posted this. I wish I could burn it right into my brain, where it could pop up every time I get all farblonjet!
And you used one of my all-time favorite words, too!

this is so true!! no human being are perfect, and we all fail during our lives. All we can do is learn from our mistakes and keep on walking.
*if you fall seven times, stand up eight*

Thank you for this. :-) I've seen this video before, and I love it.
The only thing that bums me out about is that I REALLY wish there were more women in it.
Unrelated, to this post, but this article wanted to make me bash my computer screen in, so I thought I'd share the rage.
