I really needed it to see right now. I am in recovery from an eating disorder as well, and have a food/recovery blog that I write in. I am feeling a rough patch that has lasted a few weeks, and I just wanted to know how wonderful the article was to read. I sent it to my mother.

I would love to keep in touch with you. Really, Oprah?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30178203.post-81870736994861287832009-03-20T20:40:00.000-05:002009-03-20T20:40:00.000-05:00Whatever happened to intuitive eating? Their answers were generally "something that makes you fat" or "something bad for you". It made me angry. How is a unit of energy that keeps us alive now being interpreted as a bad thing? It is not necessary to know how many calories we are burning every single second of the day. My opinion is that it's also an unhealthy behavior to monitor that sort of thing so closely. But to each his own, I guess. Thanks for being a voice of reason, Harriet.Gwenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11098013076632075762noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30178203.post-3559405904951527442009-03-20T11:25:00.000-05:002009-03-20T11:25:00.000-05:00For people with eating disorders, or those who are...For people with eating disorders, or those who are disposed in that direction, knowing how many calories you're burning every second of every day and night is a terrible idea. Talk about triggering! I think everyone with an ED would want one of these.

I don't have an eating disorder, but this is exactly the kind of thing that would make me nutty. I can only imagine the obsessiveness it would lead to.

As a culture we are already made to feel shitty about what we eat, how much we eat, how many calories we do or don't burn. We really don't need this.

Glad it works for you, though.Harriethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09774535311853591028noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30178203.post-57634374277236353892009-03-20T11:15:00.000-05:002009-03-20T11:15:00.000-05:00Ummm...the ad you have for Polar F6heart rate moni...Ummm...the ad you have for Polar F6heart rate monitors...I love mine.

I have one, I'm not eating disordered, I'm not thin.
